Progress you say?

Ahhh yes, I have been all business. Here is a little of what I've been up to this week.

Julia's shirt.

• 1. Just started couponing and spent all Monday cutting out coupons and checking out the krazy coupon lady website for deals and came in under budget for our weekly groceries! WOOT!
• 2. Made one of the shirts-that I designed-for Julia/jeweleighab and will be sending it out tomorrow hopefully.
• 3. Am halfway through with another dancer illustration.
• 4. Cooked a different meal (bleu cheese chicken) and was successful.
• 5. Gave my little sister her first sewing lesson.

As you can see, I'm really feeling something special about how this week has gone :-) Now time to get more accomplished!

Shorts

I decided to stop for a brief moment in the blogosphere to show off my latest. I made these shorts (finally) for a friend from my etsy team that has wanted some since last summer (I know I'm a shameful slacker.) The picture was taken latelate last night so give me a break on the photography lecture lol.

What do you think? 

I must run...I'm headed out to see about buying some satin for his and hers shorts to sell in pairs on etsy! We'll see how that goes!

Goals for the year

Over the new year, I got carried away in the resolving that was going on and went so far as making a couple myself. I like to think of them as goals that need to be made into habits that will last years...not just this year. My first is to read my bible every day. So far this one has been difficult because I usually forget, or don't get around to it until evening, but I still manage to find something that makes me happy that I didn't neglect to do it. One night I was so discouraged and while lying in bed in the dark I realized that I hadn't read my chapter for the day. So with a little muttering and groaning I grabbed up my bible and flipped it open. It fell open at a chapter in Psalms that spoke of praising God even when things aren't going good...and David named off a few things he had gone through and ended basically saying that God had brought him through anyway :-) Love it.
My second goal is to create something every week. This one isn't hard, but I also must photograph it. So far I have met this goal, but it's hard especially since the twins are back this week. At the moment they are fussing for absolutely no reason (they've been changed, aren't hungry, and seem to just want entertainment. Anyway, just thought I'd share those goals along with the picture of the first completed project.

Events without appreciation...

You know the kind of weeks where you work your fingers to the bone and no one notices, where you give suggestions and push for it only to be told to stop talking?? Yeah? I had that kind of week. I helped plan an event that I was supposed to only cook a single dish for. I ended up doing a lot of other people's work, as well as running and getting most of the things that I suggested in the first place at the last minute (it really didn't feel that great to be right.) I'm still  a bit childish and have to come to grips with people not caring what I think, or giving me props for getting things done lol. Sooo, in an effort to rise above here are a couple of pictures of things that I accomplished or am in the process of accomplishing.

Here is my oldest (pregnant) sister displaying the cake she made...The fondant was fun. I made a teddy bear, bottle, and a pacifier out of it (all on that cake.) I also made the watermelon fruit salad...It was a little more time-consuming than I first speculated.

Here is a shirt I am working on. It needs a few little things...but hopefully I'll work it all out at least by midweek!!

Now that I think about it, it brings to mind the verse: "Let every man prove his OWN work and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone and not in another."

Flowers

Tonight I was feeling somewhat crafty and decided to try out some of the very popular rosettes. It's funny, but I am embarrassed to say that I haven't ever done any--I'm a fashion designer and haven't done such a simple little thing...but they didn't teach me a lot of embellishments at school (and they charged me waaay too much lol.)

Anyway, here is the way my favorite turned out!

If anyone would like a tutorial, let me know. It's ridiculously easy to make :-)

And HERE is the next one...which I made lopsided by putting the button in the wrong place (sigh.)

Sooo that's it! Crafty feeling is less pressing now lol.

Card-making day!

My rendition of a pregnant lady with a gathered ribbon "collar" and one that simply says It's a shower and has ribbon and a paper quilled ducky :-)

I thought this one was cute. It's of an old-fashioned baby carriage with button wheels. I free-handed it so it's not quite as perfect as I would've liked. 

On the left is just red scrapbook paper with "she's expecting" (a stamp I bought for like a dollar at michaels) and ribbon and polka dot paper at the top. On the right is a simple pregnant lady profile (free hand) and a square of cool stripey paper cut out with cool zigzaggy scissors with "she's expecting" stamped on it.

My headband

I finally got pictures of my waistband headband on my sister! I think she made a beautiful model once she finished complaining :-)

New ideas and new endeavors...

Today I received an email from a lady whose blog I follow...I don't know her personally but when I was browsing through the blogosphere (I've been wanting to use that word) I found her page to be one of the prettiest I had come across and I automatically see her on my dashboard now. Anyway I emailed her about sending her some of my quilling creations so that she could try them and sort of "review" them, she replied saying that she would be happy to try them out and gave me her address. I'm working on some now for her other than the ones that I'm selling on etsy. I want her to like them. I also decided to step out on faith and purchase some cards to use them on and even try to sell them online...it should be fun.

In other news I have a phone interview for tomorrow for a job I applied to (details later if I get the job.) I'm thrilled and a little nervous. My friend does work there already as a new hire and is the one who suggested the job to me. Tomorrow is the "sew test" and even though overall I'm confident in my skills I'm not so sure what will be expected of me and that makes me a little nervous. I used to alter BRAS...I should be able to do this, right? I'm quoting so many verses to myself right now lol.

Thyyyy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path...(I like that song)...Sunday I had the children bring toilet paper rolls (empty) to class and we made "candles" out of them. They're so cute. I adore them.
